Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Claims “Concrete Evidence” in Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Senator Akpabio

In a dramatic escalation of the ongoing crisis between Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has declared that she possesses “concrete evidence” to substantiate her allegations of sexual harassment against Akpabio. The senator made this revelation on Saturday while urging Akpabio’s wife, Unoma, to distance herself from the controversy.

The conflict between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio began when the senator refused a reassigned seating arrangement on the floor of the Senate. The situation took a more serious turn on Friday when Akpoti-Uduaghan publicly accused Akpabio of victimizing her after she rejected his alleged sexual advances. She claimed that the Senate President refused to acknowledge her motions, maligned her character, and intimidated her as retribution for her refusal.

In response, Unoma Akpabio dismissed the allegations, accusing Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan of fabricating the claims for personal gain. However, in a legal letter dated March 1, 2025, and addressed to Unoma through her lawyer, Victor Giwa, Akpoti-Uduaghan urged the Senate President’s wife to stay out of the matter for the sake of her own “sanity and that of your family.”

The letter, titled “Stay Away from Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Sexual Harassment and Intimidation Allegation Against Sen. President Godswill Akpabio; To Safeguard Your Sanity and That of Your Family,” stated: “Our client has concrete evidence to substantiate her allegations. We suggest that you leave the defense of these allegations to the Senate President to maintain your sanity and that of your family.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized that her allegations are solely directed at Akpabio and that he should be the one to address them.

Meanwhile, Unoma Akpabio has filed a lawsuit against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan at the Federal Capital Territory High Court, accusing her of defamation and infringement of fundamental rights. Unoma is seeking N350 billion in damages, further intensifying the legal battle between the two parties.
