Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has publicly announced his readiness to shift focus towards his second term campaign, signaling the official start of his re-election politicking ahead of the 2027 general elections. Addressing a large gathering of supporters and aides under the banner of the Cross River Political Network (CRISPON) as part of activities marking his administration’s second anniversary, Governor Otu stated that he has concluded two years of “real governance” and will now devote more time to political activities.
“As from next week after the 29 May Democracy Day when I complete two years in office, I will resume and devote more time for politicking towards 2027. I have had two years of real governance,” Otu declared. He expressed confidence in his achievements so far, saying, “In these two years, I have not disappointed the state. I will never disappoint in the course of governance. We’ll continue to work towards achieving our programmes.”
Governor Otu highlighted the benefits Cross River State has enjoyed by aligning with the national ruling party, APC, under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership. He credited Tinubu’s magnanimity for the state’s recent gains and assured the crowd that Cross River would no longer be left behind in national affairs.
The event also saw the Director General of CRISPON, Prince Mike Nku Abuo, praise both President Tinubu and Governor Otu for their accomplishments and called for automatic tickets for their second terms. He reaffirmed CRISPON’s commitment to supporting the administration’s goals and engaging the public.
Governor Otu concluded by assuring his supporters that his administration remains committed to making a deeper impact on the lives of the people of Cross River State.
