Shock and outrage have gripped Umuma Ndiagu community in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State after residents uncovered a gruesome underground site filled with the bodies of people allegedly killed and buried alive by a popular native doctor, Ezeani, also known as “Ichie Million.”
The horrifying discovery was made after Ezeani was reportedly caught attempting to kidnap a 13-year-old girl in the community. The victim, who was rescued by neighborhood watch members, recounted in a viral video how she was seized and thrown into a pit by Ezeani’s men before being saved.
Following this incident, community members stormed Ezeani’s compound—an opulent residence with luxury cars—where they uncovered soakaway pits filled with dead bodies, believed to be victims of ritual killings. Eyewitnesses described finding multiple corpses, including those of pregnant women and children, allegedly buried alive.
During the raid, the community apprehended a man who claimed to be a security guard for the compound. He denied direct involvement in the killings but admitted to carrying out errands for Ezeani and identified two other suspected accomplices.
Ezeani, the alleged mastermind, is currently on the run. However, his wives were reportedly captured by irate youths, who also set his house and vehicles ablaze in anger.
A search of Ezeani’s social media showed him flaunting bundles of cash at social events just months prior to the shocking revelations. Efforts to reach the Enugu State Police Command for an official statement have so far been unsuccessful.
The community continues to demand justice and increased security to prevent further atrocities.
