Peter Obi Raises Alarm as Trespasser Erects Fence on Demolished Property Owned by His Brother in Lagos

Peter Obi, former Labour Party presidential candidate, has sounded the alarm over a trespasser who, after unlawfully demolishing a property belonging to Next Foods Limited—owned by his younger brother, Ndibe Obi is now erecting a fence within the premises in Ikeja, Lagos. Obi condemned the act as a blatant trespass and a direct assault on the rule of law, describing the secrecy and desperation surrounding the move as telling signs of impunity aimed at complicating ongoing legal proceedings.

In a post on X, Obi revealed that the company’s legal counsel has taken the matter to court after a trespasser misled the court into granting an unjust possession order leading to the demolition. He expressed hope that justice would be served swiftly and in accordance with the law.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide also condemned the demolition, calling it a height of lawlessness that discourages investment in Nigeria. Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government denied involvement by any of its agencies in the demolition, labeling Obi’s account as “disturbing” and lacking factual basis.

Prominent figures including former Labour Party Lagos gubernatorial candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju have criticized the demolition, describing it as a manifestation of lawlessness and recklessness normalized under the current ruling party’s culture.

The dispute highlights ongoing challenges around property rights enforcement, judicial manipulation, and land ownership conflicts in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital.
