Newcastle Manager Eddie Howe Confident Alexander Isak Will Stay Amid Transfer Speculation

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has reiterated that Alexander Isak remains a Newcastle player despite ongoing transfer rumors linking him with Premier League champions Liverpool and Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal. Howe emphasized that any decision regarding Isak's future must be in the best interest of Newcastle, highlighting that the striker is currently in Newcastle undergoing injury assessment and they hope to see him back soon in the black and white kit.

Isak, 25, has reportedly informed the club of his desire to explore his options this summer and was notably absent from Newcastle's pre-season tour to Asia due to a minor thigh injury. However, Newcastle has made clear that although there have been talks, no formal transfer request has been made, and the club holds a strong position with the striker still having three years left on his contract, which runs until June 2028.

The club has placed a substantial valuation on Isak, reportedly around £150 million, a figure that would deter many suitors. Liverpool remains interested but Newcastle's management insists they are financially strong and determined to keep their key player unless a deal aligned with the club’s ambitions is presented.

Howe praised Isak for his performance and character, stating the striker is well-liked in the dressing room and has been "magnificent" since joining Newcastle. The manager also maintained discretion about private discussions concerning Isak’s future, underscoring the sensitivity and ongoing nature of the situation.

Isak had a prolific previous season, scoring 27 goals in 42 appearances and played a crucial role in Newcastle’s recent successes. While the possibility of a transfer looms, Howe’s comments suggest the club’s preference is for Isak to remain for the upcoming season as they aim to build on their ambitions.
