Peter Obi Gives ₦50 Million Donation to Christ the King College Onitsha, Calling for Alumni Support in Education

Former Labour Party presidential candidate and ex-Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, announced on July 24, 2025, his ₦50 million donation to his alma mater, Christ the King College (CKC), Onitsha. The contribution, made in collaboration with fellow Old Boys, is aimed at improving school infrastructure and enhancing the learning environment.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Obi reflected on how CKC shaped his core values discipline, academic excellence, and moral grounding and described supporting the school as a heartfelt act of gratitude. He emphasized education as the most vital investment for Nigeria’s future, urging alumni of CKC and other schools to actively contribute to rebuilding institutions that formed them, rather than relying solely on government efforts.

Obi expressed appreciation to the school management and the Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, acknowledging their ongoing dedication to advancing educational progress. He also reiterated his vision for a "new Nigeria," driven by empowered and responsible citizens cultivated through quality education.

This philanthropy aligns with Obi’s broader commitment to educational development across Nigeria and follows recent initiatives where he has made significant donations to various schools and educational causes.
