The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has attributed the ongoing blackout affecting several neighborhoods in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, to a technical fault. In a notice issued via its official X account on Saturday, the power distributor explained that the loss of electricity supply is confined to specific areas due to an unexpected equipment issue.
Communities impacted by the outage include Jabi, Kado Estate, parts of Life Camp, Gishiri, Mabuchi, Kadokuchi, Navy Estate, Anan House, Jahi Village, NAF Conference Centre, Lake View Phase 1 & 2, Custom Quarters, Dakibiu, and their environs. The company did not provide a definite timeline for restoration but emphasized that its technical team is working “tirelessly” to resolve the problem.
“We regret to inform you that the ongoing power outage affecting your area is due to a technical fault. Our technical team is working tirelessly to restore power supply as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to serve you better,” AEDC stated.
Residents in the affected areas are urged to remain patient as efforts to restore normal electricity supply continue. The company’s assurance comes amid ongoing concerns about power reliability across Nigeria’s urban centers.
