Group Urges Comfort Bob to Sue Ibom Air for Alleged Rights Violations Over Viral Incident

Following the widely circulated incident involving Comfort Bob and Ibom Air, the advocacy group De-Advocates for Justice has called on Comfort Bob to sue the airline for violating her fundamental human rights to dignity. The group condemned the airline for the alleged harsh treatment of Comfort Bob, including being handled roughly by male security personnel, having her clothes torn, being filmed with her breast exposed, and the subsequent posting of the video and naked images on social media.

They described the airline's actions as oppressive and excessive, arguing that she should have been arrested with female officers and treated more respectfully in line with legal and moral standards. The group criticized the life-fly ban and court remand applied to Comfort Bob, questioning the proportionality and legality of the penalties and the apparent lack of presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

The group emphasized that this should have been handled more maturely and called for a lawsuit against Ibom Air for their conduct.

This advocacy follows Comfort Bob being charged to court and remanded in Kirikiri correctional facility after the incident on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos, which involved a confrontation over her refusal to comply with an order to switch off her phone and subsequent physical altercations with airline staff and security.
