Chief Bode George, an influential chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has emphatically declared that no individual owns or controls the PDP, likening the party to a deeply rooted Iroko tree that cannot be easily swayed or controlled like the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on Wednesday during an interview with Arise Television, George criticized members within the PDP who simultaneously work for other presidential candidates, especially those aligned with the APC. He warned that such acts are unacceptable and that consequences will follow for anyone who refuses to align fully with the party’s values.

“There must be rules, there will be laws, and there are red lines that you must not cross. You cannot serve two masters – a slave who has two masters will honor one and dishonor the other,” George said, drawing from biblical principles to emphasize loyalty and discipline within the party.

He lamented what he described as “laughable” behavior by those who work for the PDP but also support opposition candidates. “If you want to be with us, be with us, and if you want to go the other way, good riddance to bad rubbish,” he stated bluntly.

Addressing the public perception of the PDP’s internal challenges, George highlighted the party’s strength, structure, and longevity, describing it as “the only political Iroko party in this country that is well structured and has organization.” According to him, the PDP’s deep-rooted nature and established rules make it resilient and distinct from the APC, which he suggested is more susceptible to control by individuals.

The PDP chieftain further declared that the party aims to present itself as “respectable” and “responsible,” managing national resources for the people’s benefit and insisting that all members exhibit professionalism and dedication if they wish to earn voters' support.

George’s comments come amid ongoing debates about loyalty and discipline within Nigerian political parties, especially as the 2027 general elections approach. His warnings serve as a clear message to PDP members to abide by internal rules and reject divided loyalties.
