Former Jigawa Governor and PDP Chieftain, Sule Lamido, has emphatically declared that no right-thinking Northerner would vote for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. Speaking at a meeting of the PDP expanded caucus in Dutse, Jigawa State, Lamido criticized the ruling APC, blaming it for years of hardship, insecurity, and poverty suffered by Nigerians, especially in the North.
Lamido accused Tinubu of harboring antipathy towards the North, alleging that during his tenure as Lagos Governor, Northerners faced maltreatment, attacks, and killings. He also claimed that Tinubu's 2023 presidential victory was fueled by monetary influence rather than genuine regional or community support, noting key groups like ACF, Ohanaeze, and Afenifere did not back Tinubu.
Warning Northerners against supporting Tinubu's re-election, Lamido stated, “It’s quite unfortunate for any Northerner to support Tinubu’s reelection bid despite the positions he is holding.” He stressed that the future rescue of Nigeria requires unity beyond political, religious, and regional differences, expressing optimism that ongoing developments within the PDP could restore the party’s relevance and help save the nation.
