2027: ADC Will Send Tinubu Back to Bourdillon, Says Kenneth Okonkwo

Kenneth Okonkwo, a prominent member of the opposition coalition and former spokesperson for Peter Obi, has expressed confidence that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, sending him "back to Bourdillon" a reference to Tinubu's Lagos residence.

Okonkwo believes that the ADC must field a strong northern presidential candidate with broad national appeal to unseat Tinubu, who currently enjoys strong support in the South and wields the power of incumbency.

He emphasized that the northern candidate must have the backing of the entire North, citing figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-governor Aminu Tambuwal as potential contenders, provided they possess the right qualifications and leadership experience.

Okonkwo clarified that the push for a northern candidate is his personal view and not yet the official position of the ADC, which plans to hold a free and fair primary election to select its candidate.

He also noted that unseating Tinubu would require a strategic alliance combining a strong northern candidate with credible southern support, potentially disrupting the current political dynamics.

The actor-turned-politician, who left the Labour Party in 2024 amid internal crises, affirmed his commitment to supporting a candidate capable of winning across Nigeria's diverse regions.
