Nigerian businessman and entrepreneur Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has celebrated Ekuma Jeremiah, a former Lagos hawker, on his graduation with a law degree from Ebonyi State University in 2025.
Jeremiah gained nationwide attention in 2022 after a video showed him giving money to inmates inside a Nigerian Correctional Service bus in Ajah, Lagos. His kindness and generosity earned widespread praise across the country.
Obi Cubana shared memories of their first meeting in 2022, recalling how Jeremiah turned down various financial offers in favor of continuing his education despite having earlier dropped out of school.
Obi Cubana praised Jeremiah for choosing education over immediate financial relief, noting that today Jeremiah has both education and financial stability.
In his celebratory message, Obi Cubana wrote: "On January 19, 2022, when the offers were placed before you, you chose education! You made the best choice. Today, you are a 2025 law graduate! You could have chosen to take the money and walk away to temporary comfort and live for the moment, but you were wise to choose education! Today you have both education and the money, and more ahead! Congratulations Jerry, the world is yours!"
Jeremiah also expressed gratitude to Obi Cubana, media personality Daddy Freeze, and many others who supported his educational journey, acknowledging the collective effort that made his dream a reality.
