Peter Obi Condemns Rising Military Deaths, Urges Swift Action Against Insecurity

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has strongly condemned the rising deaths of Nigerian security personnel, emphasizing that Nigeria cannot continue to bury men in uniform without decisive government action.

Obi expressed deep sorrow over the continuous killings of soldiers across the country, describing the situation as a clear failure of the Nigerian state to protect its citizens and security forces.

He called for immediate, thorough investigations to identify and punish perpetrators of attacks against military and police personnel, urging swift and decisive action rather than empty words and hollow promises.

Obi acknowledged the sacrifices made by security operatives and stressed the need to provide adequate welfare and healthcare support to those wounded in the line of duty and compensation for families of the fallen.

The former Anambra governor’s statement comes amid escalating insecurity marked by frequent massacres, kidnappings, and violent crime, which he equated to a national crisis.

He also called on security agencies not to be discouraged but to intensify their efforts in combating insecurity to restore peace and safety in Nigeria.
