Rivers APC Confirms Governor Sim Fubara's Return on September 18, Commits to Cooperation with Conditions

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has affirmed that suspended Governor Sim Siminalayi Fubara is set to return to office on September 18, 2025. Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, APC Chairman Chief Tony Okocha stated that the party is prepared to work with Fubara upon his reinstatement, but will also hold him accountable and oppose "vicious policies."

Okocha conveyed a sense of political pragmatism, pointing out that in many states, governors and assemblies belong to opposing parties, yet governance continues. He assured that Local Government chairmen in Rivers will cooperate with Fubara, emphasizing the importance of constructive collaboration for state development.

Fubara was suspended six months ago on March 18, following President Bola Tinubu's declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, during which the deputy governor and the state House of Assembly were also suspended, and a sole administrator appointed to manage the state affairs. The imminent return of Fubara marks the end of the emergency period and expectations rise for stability and development.
