Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has fired back at veteran actor and movie director Afeez Owo following his comments comparing her character to that of his wife, actress Mide Martins. The remarks, made during an interview on the African A-List podcast, did not sit well with Wumi, who responded in a now-deleted video expressing her displeasure.
During the interview, Afeez described Wumi's on-screen persona as close to her real-life character, highlighting her tendency to react when provoked and not tolerate nonsense. By contrast, he portrayed Mide as calmer and less likely to escalate conflicts.
Wumi Toriola dismissed the interview as "rubbish," questioning why personal differences now have to be aired on podcasts. She mocked Afeez, suggesting it seemed like she should "rent a husband to hold the mic and spoil things." Despite her sharp response, she emphasized that she only reacts when offended and noted that she has never insulted him, adding that she still respects him despite his "unfortunate behaviour."
The actress’s outburst sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some users criticizing her tone while others supported her stance. Many argued that Afeez’s remarks were not meant to offend but to describe personality traits diplomatically.
