In a significant move in women’s football, Nigerian international and Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has signed a two-year contract with Saudi Women’s Premier League team Al-Hilal. The transfer was confirmed following her medical examination in Riyadh.
Oshoala, 30, parted ways with National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Bay FC, where she joined in February 2024 after a highly successful five-year spell at Barcelona Ladies. At Bay FC, she made 38 appearances and scored eight goals but faced a reduced role in the 2025 season.
With this transfer, Oshoala joins a growing contingent of Nigerian talents in Saudi Arabia, including Super Falcons teammates Francisca Ordega and Ashleigh Plumptre. The Riyadh-based club, which finished sixth in the 2024-25 league season, looks to leverage Oshoala’s experience and goal-scoring prowess to improve its competitive stature.
Oshoala, a two-time Ballon d’Or nominee and six-time African Women’s Player of the Year, brings a wealth of international experience, having played in top leagues across Europe, China, and the United States. Her move to Al-Hilal underscores the rising profile of women’s football in Saudi Arabia and the region.
