ADC Faction Rejects Leke Abejide's Expulsion, Warns of Party Structure Hijack

A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Nafiu Bala has rejected the expulsion of Yagba Federal Constituency lawmaker Leke Abejide, labeling it illegitimate and a desperate bid by self-appointed rivals to seize control ahead of national congresses.

The group's Director of Media, Dr. Christopher Okechukwu, condemned the National Working Committee (NWC) loyal to Senator David Mark and Atiku Abubakar for ratifying Abejide's removal over alleged indiscipline, insisting the faction lacks authority amid ongoing court battles.

Abejide, ADC's sole federal lawmaker, supported the existing leadership and opposed INEC's recognition of the rival NWC backed by Atiku and Nasir El-Rufai, prompting the sanctions from Kogi chapter and calls to vacate his seat. Okechukwu vowed resistance to marginalize loyalists, highlighting parallel meetings and legitimacy disputes fracturing the party.

The crisis deepens ADC's internal divisions, with Abejide dismissing the move as malicious by expelled members lacking legal standing.
