Datti Baba-Ahmed, spokesperson for Peter Obi, affirmed that the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate remains a committed member despite ongoing coalition activities with the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He dismissed contrary claims from party factions, stressing Obi's dedication to LP while collaborating with opposition figures like Atiku Abubakar and Nasir El-Rufai for 2027 under ADC's platform.
Baba-Ahmed highlighted Obi's repeated clarifications that coalition involvement does not signal defection, countering ultimatums from LP leaders Julius Abure and Abayomi Arabambi who labeled it unconstitutional. Obi himself reiterated during Anambra campaign events that he and LP lawmakers are LP members today, with ADC adopted solely for future elections.
The reaffirmation comes amid LP threats of expulsion and internal divisions, as Obi maintains dual focus on party loyalty and broader anti-APC alliance.
