Ajimobi Technical University Shines: 50 Students Secure First-Class Honours in Latest Convocation

Abiola Ajimobi Technical University (AATU), Ibadan, celebrated academic excellence as 50 students earned first-class honours during its recent convocation for the 2024/2025 academic session. Vice-Chancellor Professor Adesola Ajayi highlighted the achievement amid graduating a total cohort across Natural and Applied Sciences and Engineering faculties, underscoring the institution's focus on producing job creators through rigorous training and vocational skills. Graduates received dual certifications a bachelor's degree plus Diploma in French and Vocational Studies certificate to enhance employability in Nigeria's competitive landscape.​

The milestone builds on prior successes, with 69 first-class recipients from 310 graduands in the combined 3rd and 4th convocations covering 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 sessions: 28 in Science (62 second-upper, 35 lower, 6 third-class) and 41 in Engineering (89 upper, 36 lower, 11 third). Ajayi credited Governor Seyi Makinde's N1.4 billion infrastructure boost, local government sponsorships covering 90% of students, and partnerships with Coca-Cola, Dangote Agrochemicals for job pipelines. New Council Chairman Dr. Adesola Adeduntan drives further impact.​

AATU's model balancing technical prowess with entrepreneurship positions alumni for global relevance, with improved security enabling focus on laurels won domestically and abroad. The university eyes expanded MOUs with ICT firms.
