David Mark, National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declared that ADC is positioned to form the next government in Anambra State and begin "rebuilding Nigeria" starting there. He made the statement during the flag-off of the ADC governorship campaign for their candidate, John Nwosu, held at All Saints Cathedral in Onitsha.
Mark emphasized ADC's vision to bring capable and business-minded leadership to Anambra, contrasting past administrations marked by what he called "self-serving mediocres." He highlighted that Anambra is the birthplace of ADC and expressed confidence in the party’s growing strength both in the North and South of Nigeria. The party’s symbol, a handshake, was noted as a sign of peace restoration, which they intend to champion through Nwosu as governor.
John Nwosu, the ADC candidate, criticized the current governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, labeling his administration as a failure in security, development, adherence to law, and respect for traditional institutions. Nwosu described Anambra as "badly shattered" with escalating insecurity and economic regression due to leadership flaws. He accused Soludo’s administration of oppressive revenue collection methods and urged citizens to support change for a safer, more prosperous state.
Additionally, ADC presented flags to other candidates contesting different positions, including Mrs. Justina Azuka, who is vying for a senatorial seat.
This announcement was confirmed in an official report by Daily Post on August 8, 2025, reflecting ADC’s ambitions and campaign launch efforts in Anambra.
